How to Clean Window Blinds
Unlike putting your heavy curtains into the laundry which takes a lot of your time and energy, cleaning window blinds come in easy and many ways:
You may want to wash your blinds (duty cleaning), vacuum it (electrical cleaning) or just remove the dust (convenient cleaning), you’re totally in control!
Just follow the steps and you don’t have to undergo the difficult stage of cleaning curtains:
First one is by simply removing the dust.
Removing the dust can be done in 2 ways, through feather duster or through an old sock or microfiber clothe if you want to do it hands-on. Both offers hassle-free advantages because you don’t have to detach the blinds from its place
Using feather duster: recommended if the blinds have thin layer of dirt
Here are the materials you will be needing:
Feather duster
Here are the steps:
Lower then close the blinds
Wipe the feather duster all throughout the blinds
Open the blinds
Wipe the feather duster again all throughout
Do the same on the other side
Arrange the blinds after
Using an old sock: recommended if the blinds has hard-to-reach areas
Here are the materials you will be needing:
Old sock (or microfiber clothe)
Household glass and hard-surface cleaner (i.e. Windex, Mr. Muscle)
Example of a microfiber clothe and surface cleaner:
Here are the steps:
Prepare the surface cleaner
Damp the sock in it
Squeeze the sock
Wear the sock in your hand
Lower then open the blinds
Wipe every blinds precisely (pinch the blinds from its corner then run your fingers)
Close the blinds
Wipe it around from side to side
Wipe it around from up to down
Let it dry for a while
Arrange the blind after
Second one is through vacuum
Cleaning blinds through vacuum is common and easy since it’s a mechanical work. It is proven to be sufficient.
Here is the material you will be needing:
Vacuum cleaner (the one with dusting brush is preferable)
Here are the steps:
Assemble your vacuum properly
Lower then close the blinds
Turn on the vacuum and round it all through out
Do the same on the other side
Arrange the blind after
Voila! Simple as that.

Here are the materials you will be needing:
Rubber sponge
Dishwashing liquid
Here are the steps:
Carefully remove the blinds from the window
Place it in the washing area
Put directly below the faucet for continuous water supply
Rinse the sponge and add exact amount of dishwashing liquid
Close the blinds
Scrub the blinds slowly
Do the same on the other side
Open the blinds
Pinch the sponge to wipe the edges
Run the water when you are done
Place it outside and let it dry for a while
Arrange the blind properly
Some reminder: when it comes to wooden blinds, just damp the microfiber cloth or the rubber sponge with a cleaning solution or with the dishwashing liquid to avoid saturation.
Do the cleaning gently for each panel to avoid destruction of parts or if in an instance that your blinds is already damaged.
